WHAT DRIVES US

Soil

To make the soil more fertile than the one we found. This legacy is a reality and makes a difference for those who come next.

How do we explore our soils?

Responsibility

Contribute to climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration and reduction of GHG emissions. Act and manage with social responsibility.

We act with environmental responsibility to preserve and restore biodiversity and promote a healthy and environmentally friendly food chain.

We act with social responsibility and contribute to the regional economy by retaining specialised labour in the region, which is essential for combating desertification in the interior of the country.

Research and Innovation

A Ciência é o elemento chave na evolução da Bovicer.
We are founders of the UÉvora Soil Chair.

We signed a protocol for the creation of the Chair of Soil at the University of Évora, within the scope of a long-standing cooperation. Our objectives, among others, are to promote conservation agriculture and soil regenerative practices in the Alentejo region, supporting, in particular, research and evaluation of results. These results will be disseminated to the sector.

Agro-silvo-pastoral systems

The vocation of our territory is the agro-silvo-pastoral systems, as it is the synergies and complementarity between the three activities that allow us to sustain the business.

The model in force in this agricultural company has to serve as an inspiration for most companies in the Alentejo. The vocation of our territory is the agro-silvo-pastoral systems, as it is the synergies and complementarity between the three activities that allow us to sustain the business in the face of existing conditions, particularly soil and climate. We are currently witnessing the disappearance of the agricultural component of the system, which weakens the other two activities, in particular livestock. The solution found to bring irrigation to autumn/winter, thus sustaining cereal production, is an example that has to be followed very carefully in the country's options.
