Montado

An agro-silvo-pastoral system with cork and holm oaks, which is a type of soil exploitation characteristic of southern Portugal that combines the forest of cork oaks and holm oaks with agriculture and cattle raising.

What we have done is fundamental for the montado. The soil conservation allows to increase the soil organic matter. The undercover of our montado is today a heritage of high agronomic and environmental value, through the sequestration of carbon in the soil.
